American people just love to use the word “cliché.” I hear it all the time in real life and on TV!
One thing you need to know about this French word is that it originally means “pictures.” So yes, a cliché can be a stereotype but it can also simply be a photo. But to be honest, it’s a little bit old-fashioned.
Les Parisiens sont arrogants. Quel cliché! – Parisians are arrogant. What a cliché!
J’adore ces clichés de Terry Richardson. – I love those Terry Richardson’s pictures.
