You can use “break” in French the exact same way you do in English.
Je travaille beaucoup, j’ai besoin d’un break (I work a lot, I need a break).
J’ai cours de français, puis un break de 10 minutes (I have French class, then a 10 minute break).

Do you remember when Ross and Rachel were on a break? Well, you can use it in that context in French too.
Ca va, chérie? Non, on doit faire un break (Are you good, honey? No, we need a break).
