In English, “souvenirs” are things you buy to remember a place you went to or to give to family and friends after a trip. It’s the same in French.

J’ai acheté une mini tour Eiffel comme souvenir de Paris. – I bought a mini Eiffel tower as a souvenir from Paris.
Voici le magasin de souvenirs. – Here is the souvenir shop.
But, in French, it can also mean “memories.”

J’ai de bons souvenirs d’enfance. – I have good childhood memories.
Quel mauvais souvenir! – What a bad memory!
